Whatever Happened to Kenny Yeagar?

To everyone else, Kenny Yeager always seemed "normal enough." He was a nice guy. Generally liked by all. Nothing out of the ordinary. But there were those that would tell you otherwise. There were whispers in the shadows of the hallways. If pressed, those that knew him better might tell you he had a problem. "Every time I walked by his room, he'd always be playing that Pokémon," said an anonymous source.

But it didn't stop there. Witnesses say next, "he was taking it to the gym, playing it while he rode his exercise bike." The final straw was when he took it into the shower with him. His Pokémon didn't work after that. Kenny didn't work after that.

People didn't really see Kenny much after this. He started separating himself from his friends and family. Sometimes he wouldn't even come in until late at night. People started disappearing from campus.

When they finally caught him it was already too late. His mind was too far gone. All he could say, over and over again, was, "Gotta' catch 'em all!"

As for the all the missing people? Well... they all went home early for mid-semester break!

Clarity of Faith

I think, if nothing else, I don't want my faith to be ambiguous. I don't want people to wonder.

There are Christian bands that, from a secular perspective, don't always come off as being Christian because they talk very little about Jesus.

The reality is, I may not write very many movies that specifically deal with Christianity. However, my hope is to have my life reflect Jesus Christ. I want there to be no question as to what I stand for and in whom I place my identity.

Love At First Sight

I don't believe there's such a thing as "love at first sight." I think if you truly make that initial connection, simply by looking, and you get that feeling that you "just know", you definitely have something, but it's not love. How can you make such an encompassing assumption about someone simply by looking at them? The only thing you have to go on is their physical appearance. You can't possibly know anything about their emotions, their personality, or their masterfully woven and beautifully mysterious soul. How can someone claim to love a person and not intimately know these things?

Personally, I won't even say I "like" someone until I've gotten at least a glimpse of these things. Anything less is simply physical, material, and, ultimately, lustful. Lust is an absence of love. Lust is purely physical. So if you think you have that magical, fated connection, you don't know what love is.

Life in the Fast Lane

Sometimes I worry that life is going to pass me by, that I'm going to miss the fine details.  Sometimes I want time to slow down a bit. Sometimes I wish I could drop some of my responsibilities so I can have time to simply stop and appreciate this beautiful earth God has given us. Is that selfish?

I feel like sometimes I'm moving through life so fast that I'm only able to exist within this world, unable to truly appreciate it. I don't want to "get so busy" or move so fast that I'm not able to appreciate the small things. Like smells. Scenery. People. Places. Emotions. Memories.

I don't know how to find a balance. I want to do all things unto the Lord, but do I get the luxury of enjoying myself? Is any of this even important, or am I being selfish?

Birthday List

Here is my birthday list, world.

I've added asterisks (*) to some of these items. The more asterisks, the more I want that item. Some of these things I want, some of these things I need. You be the judge.

1. Care packages in the form of non-perishable foods (they only have food twice a day on the weekends, as compared to three normally. I'm wasting away)
2. A high definition TV
3. A Nintendo 3DS********
4. A three-hole punch*
5. JCPenny gift cards (I'm running out of jeans)****
6. Gas money*
8. Money (I have to pay to print papers, laundry, etc.)*
10. A NAS Bible
11. Twin-size bed sheets. (I like blue)
11-2. Optional matching pillow cases.
12. A suit. I own nice dress shirts, just not a suit. I don't know what suit size I am. I also don't know what suite size I am.
13. An HD cable to connect Charlotte (my laptop) to HD devices. I don't need a TV or anything for this one, I just want the option to be able to.***
14. Ties (any kind or color, though I'm not really looking for silly ties). I only have one.

I'll update this as I think of things.

Mysteries of the Heart

Why do people use hand sanitizer after dumping their dishes on the loading tray? Aren't they the only ones who've handled their dishes? Weren't they clean to begin with?

Why do people brush their teeth -before- breakfast? Isn't it a little repetitious to brush your teeth after dinner and then again when you wake up, when you probably didn't eat in between? Wouldn't it make more sense to brush your teeth -after- breakfast? Isn't the point of brushing your teeth to remove the food left on after a meal, to prevent the chance of plaque buildup?

A Poem

I was unemployed
So I created a zombie-catching service.
No one called.
I got a real job.

Love and Beauty

I was just listening to a radio show where they mentioned a recent poll that said half of men (at least, the half that were polled) would leave their partner if they gained weight.
Let me tell you, girls, if a man is willing to do that to you then he wasn't in love with you in the first place. Just because your body or your shape changes doesn't mean -you- do. If he is willing to leave because of purely physical reasons then he probably never -truly- appreciated you to begin with. His idea of love--his attraction--is on a physical scale. He is in love with your body. He could never fall in love with -you-, with your very -soul-. He is incapable of seeing any deeper than the surface level--both physical and emotional--and bases his entire perspective on it. When something alters his expectations, he wants out. He is incapable of seeing you for the beautiful woman you always are and always have been. He doesn't even -grasp- the concept of love.
Don't think for a second you're not worth more. Don't think that you have to maintain society's perception of beauty in order to be loved. You are just as beautiful as the day God made you, and you should be treated like it. If men can't see that then they doesn't deserve you. I mean it. This isn't a platform for me to try to boost anyone's self esteem. I just want you to understand what love really is. Beauty is much deeper than how you look. Beauty is who you -are-, and it doesn't leave just because your physical appearance changes. Find a man who can see that, and don't settle for anything less.

The Moth King

You ever have one of those dreams where you're on the verge of waking, but you're asleep -just- enough so that whatever is happening in reality mixes in with your dream, or maybe your dream state affects your waking logic? That happened to me this morning.

I was lying there in bed and something began to repeatedly brush my arm. In my barely-conscious head I immediately "figured out" it was a moth. Normally something like this would freak me out, but instead I reassured myself, with the utmost of confidence, when I "remembered", "Good thing I'm the Moth King".

You know, because having domain over those fluttery insects makes me unaffected to them flittering all over my arm at 7 in the morning!

Everything was okay now, right? I needn't lose any sleep over a silly little moth! I think there was even a part of me that felt real smug over the fact I was the only one who didn't have to worry about this problem, being the Moth King and all.

Then, all at once, the conscious part of my brain seemed to string together reality and I realized that I -wasn't- the Moth King, it -wasn't- okay that there was a moth flying around my arm, and that, holy crap!, there's a moth in my room!

I then proceeded to jump up and freak out, wiping imaginary moth residue off my arms and frantically trying to locate this persistent bug. It was then, at the point where I was mostly awake now, that I realized that the cotton sticking out of my blanket was the culprit all along, rubbing my arm as I moved in bed, and there was never any moth.

Just as I was about to fall back asleep I had a final thought pass through my head. Wondering to myself in bewilderment I asked, "The Moth King??"

Footer Test

This is a test of the emergency blog testing system. This is only a test. When you go outside to play in puddles, remember: this is only a test. Thank you.
